CAP & GOWN DELIVERY

Wednesday, April 15 • 9:45 am-12:45 pm • Auditorium

  • Try on cap and gown to verify fit, hang gown ASAP to get rid of wrinkles or use cool iron
  • Gowns not picked up on April 16 will be available for pick up in A103 Counseling Office
  • If Midyear graduates/Online students don’t pick their gowns up on April 15, they can pick them up at Door 38 between 7:45am-3:00pm.
  • Avon Academy seniors will pick their cap and gowns up at the Academy.
  •  If cap and gown have not been ordered yet, call Herff Jones at (317) 839-1600 or visit their website at highschool.herffjones.com.

SENIOR SRT REQUIRED MEETING

Wednesday, April 22 • SRT (6th Per for AM Area 31) • Auditorium

  • Seniors have a required SRT class meeting for graduation information
  • AM Area 31 seniors required meeting will be during 6th per

SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT

Wednesday, May 20 • 7:00 pm • Auditorium

  • Seniors being recognized will receive an invitation mailed home 7-10 days before the event.
  • Please dress nicely, as this is a special event honoring the Class of 2026
  • AHD/THD medals & academic chevrons will be received during SRT on Wednesday, May 13 (student only)

FINAL EXAMS

  • Friday, May 22 (Period 5) Dismiss at 3:10 pm
  • Monday, May 25 No School
  • Tuesday, May 26 (Periods 1 & 7) Dismiss at 3:10 pm
  • Wednesday, May 27 (Periods 2 & 4) Dismiss at 11:30 am
  • Thursday, May 28 (Periods 3 & 6) Last Senior Day and Dismiss at 11:30 am

SENIOR LUNCH

Wednesday, May 27 at 12:00 pm

  • Please complete the RSVP form (coming soon)
  • Located in the Small Cafe / Cafe Commons
  • Lunch will start at 12:00 pm and students should enter Door 38 if not on campus. Dismissal is at 11:30 am on Wednesday.
  • Lunch is free for all students.
  • Prizes will be given out.
  • Lunch will end by 1:00 pm.
  • Seniors must have their own transportation home from the senior lunch.

    COMMENCEMENT PRACTICE - REQUIRED

    Friday, May 29 • 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
    Seniors MUST attend practice to participate in commencement Friday night

    • ALL seniors must be at the Coliseum by 11:00 am
      • If a senior requested to ride the bus, they must be in Main Gym by 9:15 am
      • Enter through Door 38
      • Will return from practice by 1:30pm
    • ALL money owed to school must be paid by Friday, May 15, 2026, for student to participate in commencement. This includes all outstanding fees for textbooks, library books, and laptops/chargers. Watch for ParentSquare messages if you have fees to pay.
    • Please ensure your student has returned laptops, textbooks, English novels and library books prior to the last day of school. Additional fees may be assessed for non-returned/damaged laptops or textbooks.
      • There will be tables setup in the commons on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for seniors to drop off their laptops, chargers, textbooks, etc. 

    NOT WALKING AT COMMENCEMENT?

    • If you are not planning on walking at commencement, AHS needs a parent/guardian to email Carol Ayler at cmayler@avon-schools.org to let her know. 
    • Diploma pickup information for anyone not walking, will be emailed to families at the end of May.

    COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

    Friday, May 29 • 7:00 pm
    Corteva Coliseum at Indiana State Fairgrounds

    • Doors will open at 5:30 pm. Graduates need to report to Champions Pavilion by  6:15 pm.
    • NO tickets needed for ceremony.
    • Parking will be $10/car at the Indiana State Fairgrounds (map coming soon)
      • Parking lots will open at 4:30 pm
    • Everyone will walk through metal detectors to enter the coliseum.
    • All bags (clear, backpack, camera) 9"x10"x12" or smaller are permitted. All bags are subject to search prior to entering.
    • NO helium balloons are allowed inside the Corteva Coliseum

    • All graduates wear a cap, gown, and tassel: caps are to be parallel to the floor; decorations on caps are not allowed. 
      • Only school-issued medals and approved cords to be worn with gown. Student will be asked to remove all non-approved cords/items before crossing stage.
    • Students should dress nicely: shirt with collar and tie, dress pants, dress, slacks and blouse with dress shoes (no flip flops). 
    • Wheelchair accessible seating will be available and clearly marked.
    • Parents will not be allowed to approach stage.
    • After students receive their diploma from Champions Pavilion, they will meet you on the plaza outside. Families are not allowed in Champions Pavilion and students will not be permitted back into the coliseum.
    • Lifetouch will photograph each graduate as they receive their diploma. Sign up to be able to view pictures: Info coming soon.
    • Commencement Group will have a table at graduation or pre-order items for your graduate. Order ahead at: thecommencementgroup.com/avonhs.

  • April 15: FAFSA deadline for Indiana financial aid
  • April 15: Announcements, caps and gowns delivery during SRT & lunches in Auditorium
  • April 22: Required Senior Class Meeting during SRT

  • May 1: Decision Signing Day in the Cafe/Commons during lunches
  • May 9: Prom at Embassy Suites in Plainfield, 7:30-10:30pm
  • May 15: ALL fees due to school (laptop, lost textbooks, library fines, ID charges, etc.)
  • May 20: AHD/THD Medal Reception during SRT (students only)
  • May 20: Senior Awards Night, 7:00pm, Auditorium, invitation only
  • May 22 - 28: Senior Final Exams
  • May 26 - 28: Turn in Lenovo rental laptop in AHS Library & textbooks to teachers when finals are completed
  • May 27: Senior Luncheon in Small Cafeteria (former ALC cafe) 12:00 pm-1:00 pm - See more details below
  • May 27: White Oak Senior Walk (see below)
