CAP & GOWN DELIVERY

Wednesday, April 16 • 9:45 am-12:45 pm • Auditorium

• Try on cap and gown to verify fit, hang gown ASAP to get rid of wrinkles or use cool iron
• Gowns not picked up on April 16 will be available for pick up in Student Services.
• If Midyear graduates don’t pick their gowns up on April 16, they can pick them up at Door 38 between 7:45am-3:00pm.
• Avon Academy seniors will pick their cap and gowns up at the Academy.
•  If cap and gown have not been ordered yet, call Herff Jones at (317) 839-1600 or visit their website at highschool.herffjones.com.

SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT

Tuesday, May 13 • 6:45 pm • Auditorium

• Seniors being recognized will receive an invitation mailed home 7-10 days before the event.
• Please dress nicely, as this is a special event honoring the Class of 2025
• AHD/THD medals & academic chevrons will be received during SRT on Wednesday, May 14 (student only)

• Friday, May 23 (Period 5) Dismiss at 3:10 pm
• Monday, May 26 No School
• Tuesday, May 27 (Periods 1 & 7) Dismiss at 3:10 pm

COMMENCEMENT PRACTICE

Friday, May 30 • 9:15 am - 1:30 pm
Seniors MUST attend practice to participate in commencement Friday night

• ALL seniors report to the Main Gym at 9:15 am through Door 38
• Seniors will ride the bus to and from the convention center for practice.
• ALL money owed to school must be paid by Friday, May 16, 2025, for student to participate in commencement. This includes all outstanding fees for textbooks, library books, and laptops/chargers. Watch for ParentSquare messages if you have fees to pay.
• Please ensure your student has returned laptops, textbooks, English novels and library books prior to the last day of school. Additional fees may be assessed for non-returned/damaged laptops or textbooks.

NOT WALKING AT COMMENCEMENT?

• If you are not planning on walking at commencement, AHS needs a parent/guardian to email Carol Ayler at cmayler@avon-schools.org to let us know. 

SENIOR LUNCH

Immediately following commencement practice

• Located in the Small Cafe (Former ALC Cafe)
• Dress is casual: school or senior colors, senior shirts, etc.
• Lunch is free for all students.
• Prizes will be given out.
• Lunch will end by 1:30 pm.
• Seniors must have their own transportation home from senior lunch.

COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

Friday, May 30 • 7:00 pm

Halls I J K

• Doors will open at 6:15 pm. Graduates need to report to Hall J K by 6:30 pm.
• NO tickets needed for ceremony.
• Parking is available in several parking garages close to the Convention Center. Scroll down to see a map of downtown parking options.
• Convention Center Hall map is on the website
• All graduates wear a cap, gown, and tassel: caps are to be parallel to the floor; decorations on caps are not allowed. 
  • Only school-issued medals and approved cords to be worn with gown. Student will be asked to remove all non-approved cords/items before crossing stage.
• Students should dress nicely: shirt with collar and tie, dress pants, dress, slacks and blouse with dress shoes (no flip flops). Avoid high heels.
• Wheelchair accessible seating will be available and clearly marked.
• Parents will not be allowed to approach stage.
• After students receive their diploma from Hall J K, graduates are able to go back into Hall I for pictures.
