AHS has been named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2023 by the U.S. Department of Education based overall academic performance. AHS is one of 353 schools in the nation to be recognized this year and one of only eight public schools in Indiana – and the only public high school – to earn the honor.


Junior Day of Caring is a tradition at Avon High School, stretching back nearly a decade. It is a day in which the entire junior class gets the valuable opportunity to learn about being empowered citizens, making a difference in the community in the process.

Interact Club Meeting9/21

Please bring a pair of gently used shoes you no longer wear to donate to our Changing Footprints shoe drive. We're experiencing uncomfortably hot temperatures in Avon. It's not a good time to encounter a problem with a school air conditioning system. The team at AHS has done a great job keeping the 'cool' in school this week.

FCA Announcment

FCA is one of our Christian clubs here at Avon high school. Everyone is invited to join us every Friday morning at 7:27am sharp in the Café Study part of the Cafeteria (old ALC Media Center). Enter the building at door #33 to be let in. We promise to bring the breakfast, if you bring yourself and friends! For more questions ask Spanish teacher Sr. Stewart in B201.

Horticulture Club

Are you interested in learning to grow house plants or gardening? Horticulture Club is just starting up with our first callout meeting on Monday, August 28th from 3:15-4:15 in Mrs. Kern's room, L113. Join us to help us plan activities for the year!


Having trouble in math or science class? STEM tutoring can help. Join us after school beginning on August 30 until 4pm. Bring your homework or any concepts that you find difficult, and our capable tutors will help. Tutoring is offered each Wednesday from August 30 through the end of the semester in Mrs. McAfee's room L229

Horticulture Club

Did you hear that Avon now has a Horticulture Club? If you're interested in learning to grow garden flowers, vegetables, or house plants, you should join us! Our first meeting will be on Monday, August 14th from 3:15-4:15 in L113. Hope to see you there!

Community Day

Please join us at Community Day on Saturday, August 19th! We will have food trucks, vendors, raffles, as well as performances by the Avon Step Team, Avon Golden Girls Majorette Club, and Premiere Dance Academy. Your Avon Marching Black & Gold will do their premiere performance of the 2023 show, and there will be a flag football game between the Avon Football Team and Avon Band! Tickets are $5. See you there!

Chris Hill

For Avon High School Robotics and Engineering Teacher Chris Hill, biking is a way of life. He biked to and from work 180 of 185 work days during the 2022-23 school year.

Eco Club Meeting

If you're interested in the environment, you should join Eco Club! It's a service organization that does the recycling for Avon High School, goes on nature hikes, and does a river cleanup each year. Eco Club will have its first meeting on Wednesday, August 16th from 3:15-4pm in L113. Hope to see you there!

AHS Teen Republicans

The AHS Teen Republicans will have a callout meeting Monday, August 14th afterschool in D101. We will be discussing the purpose of the club, events to take part in, and elect this year's officers. If you are interested in joining but cannot attend, please contact Mrs. Handlon in person or via Schoology so that she can add you to our Schoology page.

Avon High School DECA recently competed against over 2,100 students from across Indiana in the state DECA competition. Multiple students placed in the competition.

On Friday, May 27, more than 800 members of the Avon High School class of '22 received their diplomas, turned their tassels, and celebrated graduation.

This spring semester, 45 Avon High School students completed their coursework and training and graduated from Harris Academy.

Unified Track & Field is a fully sanctioned IHSAA sport in which athletes with disabilities compete beside neurotypical peers in events like long jump, shotput, 4x100 relay, 100-yard dash, and more.

The Avon High School Boys and Girls Cross Country teams are hosting their 11th-annual Running Development Camp this summer. Runners of all abilities are welcome, and Avon students entering grades 4-8 are invited.

Students and staff at Avon High School received an unordinary interruption to their school day on Wednesday. A huge thunderstorm moved through the area at noon causing 25-year-old systems at AHS to become overwhelmed.
