Once again, the Avon Indoor Winds completed the season as State and World Champions. Avon Drumline also brought home a State Championship and an impressive 4th-place finish at the World Championships.

Forty-nine AHS students attended the Indiana State Leadership Conference for HOSA-Future Health Professionals. Five qualified to compete at HOSA's International Leadership Conference in June.

This AHS senior has been busy. Her most recent adventure took her to the Indiana Statehouse, where Senator Brett Clark and Representative Greg Steuerwald honored her.

An Avon High School senior earned the distinction of being one of only 12 Indiana seniors to win a 2025 IHSAA Eugene C. Cato Memorial Scholarship for her impact on the court, in the classroom, and around the community.

Sherlock Holmes Flyer

This year's spring play, Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars, is Friday and Saturday, April 25th and 26th, at 7:00 pm and Sunday, April 27th, at 3:00 pm in the auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

Want to be a part of our State Championship Choir Program? Choir try-outs are starting this week. We have show and concert choirs that you can be a part of! No experience is necessary, because there is a place for everyone in our choir department! If you are interested in show choir, the dance audition workshop is Wednesday, April 9th from 3:15-4:15 p.m. in the choir room and the actual audition is Thursday, April 10th at 6:00 p.m. If you cannot make those dates, message Mrs. Trigg to set up another time to audition. If you have any further questions send a schoology message to Mrs. Trigg or fill out the "Join Choir" form on the choir website (www.avonchoirs.com).

The AHS Speech Team won its second consecutive Indiana 3A State Championship yesterday! It was a tremendous team effort, with 21 semi-finalists and 14 finalists.

ARRRRRRR you ready for another great summer camp? Our theme at Avon Orchestra Summer Camp is pirates! This camp is for mateys who are entering grades 7-9.

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America recently held its annual State Leadership Conference, and we are excited to share that our students earned an impressive two bronze, five silver, and one gold medal.

The Avon High School Open House, held on Wednesday, February 26, drew a crowd. Guests got to tour many new and newly renovated areas of the school.

On Saturday, March 1, the Avon High School Speech and Debate team qualified 11 competitors for the national tournament, which takes place in June. Additionally, our team won the District Team Sweepstakes and the Leading Chapter Award.

The Avon High School Varsity Dance Team brought home the 2025 AAA Varsity State Championship from the IHSDTA State Finals. Varsity Jazz placed 4th. JV Pom was State Runner Up and placed 3rd in Hip Hop.

The Avon High School Show Choirs keep rolling along with great performances! Come to AHS to witness the amazingly talented groups as they compete at the Avon Vocal Invitational on March 7-8.

The AHS Dance team attended Regionals last weekend. JV are Regional Champions for Pom and Hip Hop and Varsity are 1st place Regional Champions for Jazz and 2nd place for Hip Hop.

An AHS senior is Indiana's Distinguished Young Woman, the first AHS student to win this honor. As our Hoosier representative, she will advance to participate in the national competition this summer in Alabama.

After an exciting qualifying tournament, all four Avon High School Robotics teams are going to the state championship match in early March. AHS is the only school in the state with numerous teams qualified for the tournament.

The Avon High School Speech Team won their 4th consecutive Speech Sectional Championship on Saturday, February 22. The team competes Saturday at IU Columbus to qualify students for Nationals. State Finals are Saturday, March 1, at Fishers High School.

Arsema, Kanyin, and our social media campaign will be going to State in March, and Perla Tecan-Cruz was accepted to represent Avon (and JAG Indiana as a whole) at Nationals in April. Wish them luck and a huge congratulations to everyone!!!

We are so incredibly proud of these students and the hard work they put in all year, so please give them the proper accolades!!

Each year, the HCCF oversees the awarding of three Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships to deserving Hendricks County seniors. This year, an Avon High School senior received the award.

Seven Avon High School students competed in the Annual Avon Rotary Speech Contest on Tuesday, January 21, and the top three finishers will move on to compete at the Rotary District 6560 competition on February 8.

The Avon High School varsity boys basketball team is on a hot streak. At 13-1, they are off to the best start in program history and they have already wrapped up their second consecutive Hendricks County Tournament Championship.

Avon High School Science Teacher Lisa Kern recently learned that the White House had issued her a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

An AHS Senior is headed to Washington DC this March as a delegate to the 63rd annual United States Senate Youth Program. She is one of only two Indiana high school seniors who earned this honor for 2025.

Did you know that the AHS Performing Arts Department has been operating for years with major space limitations? That was true until earlier this fall when construction on the new orchestra rehearsal room was completed.

This year, College Board recognized 48 high-achieving AHS students for their outstanding academic accomplishments. The number of students earning this national honor has grown rapidly in the last few years.

The Avon Marching Black & Gold are back-to-back National Champions! They brought home their fifth overall Bands of America Grand National Championship last weekend at Lucas Oil Stadium, besting bands from across the nation.

College Board admitted AHS to the 2024 AP School Honor Roll "for developing an AP program that creates a college-going culture and gives students opportunities to earn college credit and to maximize their college outcomes" and awarded AHS the 2024 AP Access Award "for ensuring AP coursework is equally available to students no matter their backgrounds."

How did you learn to jump start your car? An Avon High School student learned this important life skill recently when her car wouldn't start after school, and she got some help from two unlikely mechanics.

Avon High School ran up the score last year — the sportsmanship score — and officials at the IHSAA have noticed. We raised our score from 90 for 2022-23 to 130 for 2023-24.

Four Avon High School Roborioles are serving this year on the Board of Directors for FIRST Indiana Robotics. There are 21 Hoosier high school students on this statewide board, which means AHS is well represented.

On Saturday, August 3, eleven young women heading into their senior year at Avon High School participated in the Distinguished Young Woman of Avon program. Judges awarded the title to Calleigh Neal.

For the second year in a row, an Avon High School student will participate in the Songbook Academy.

Avon High School softball and baseball teams continue to win and advance. The softball team won their fourth Regional competition in program history and the baseball team won their Sectional competition.

On Wednesday evening, 46 students walked across the stage and received their diplomas. They joined the 12 students who graduated in December as the first class of Avon Academy graduates.

AHS Alum Returns, Inspires Students

Alumnus Tristan Fitzpatrick paid a visit to his old newspaper classroom on May 17. Fitzpatrick, a graduate of the class of 2014, spoke to Bill Caulton’s newspaper class about career opportunities in communications and media.

2023-24 School Year Highlights

A lot can happen over the course of a school year, especially in a school corporation like Avon Schools. We have compiled a list of some of the academic, artistic, athletic, and teacher/leader highlights that have happened since last July, and you can access them all on our website.

The Avon High School Disc Golf Club competed in the Indiana High School Disc Golf State Championships on May 5. The team of 20 members sent eight players to compete and was crowned best team in the state.

More Orioles to Celebrate

At their May 13 working session, the Avon Board of School Trustees paused to celebrate three deserving individuals for their incredible achievements.

It all began when a few art teachers saw a social media post and got inspired! AHS art students turned Sycamore kindergarten students' monster drawings into ceramic monsters, displayed them at the Art Show, and gifted them back to the kindergarten students.

Avon Schools district leaders, family, and friends gathered on May 13 to celebrate 24 employees who are retiring this year. In total, these individuals dedicated 552 years of service to Avon.

Avon Schools recently named three new principals and one new assistant principal. Each of these individuals will fill positions vacated by principals who have taken on new challenges.

The Kiwanis Club of Avon hosted a Salute the Recruits dinner and recognition event this week. They honored four members of the AHS class of '24 who have chosen military service as their next step after graduation.

Avon Board Celebrates Orioles

At their May 6 meeting, the Avon Board of School Trustees celebrated eight separate groups and individuals for their high achievement and academic growth.

2023-24 Teachers & Support Staff of the Year

It's Teacher Appreciation Week, the perfect time to reveal our 2023-24 Teachers & Support Staff of the Year. Congratulations to these deserving individuals who were selected by their colleagues!

Model UN is a fantastic club for students interested in international affairs, conflict resolution, and honing their negotiation and debate skills. This was a big year for this Model UN.

At their April 22 working session, the Avon Board of School Trustees took time to honor academic excellence at two of our schools and to honor a member of the class of '24.

The Avon Chamber Singer/Accents Concert Choir, Wind Symphony, and Symphony Orchestra competed in ISSMA State qualifications and all made it to state finals!

Avon High School senior Liam Hoffman is an Indiana Academic All-Star. This is the highest academic honor given to Indiana students by the Indiana Association of School Principals.

For the first time in Avon High School's history, a Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) student has won a National Championship. A senior won first place for Employability Skills at the National JAG Conference in St. Louis.

The Avon High School Speech Team won the school's first ever Speech State Championship this spring and three individual competitors won State Championships. The Avon Board of School Trustees issues Resolutions of Commendation for each feat at their April 11 meeting.

At their April 11 meeting, the Avon Board of School Trustees recognized the State Championships won by three DECA participants with a Resolution of Commendation, the highest honor they can issue.

Avon High School sophomore Giselle Long is having breakout success on the rugby pitch and she's receiving attention for her exploits. She has been scouted by US Rugby and she'll travel Europe this summer as a member of Eagle Impact Rugby Academy.

On April 10-12, 20 of Avon High School's Project Lead The Way Biomedical Science students attended the Indiana State HOSA Leadership Conference. Two students placed first, two placed second, two placed third, and multiple students finished in the top 10 in their disciplines.

Recently, Dr. Wyndham had a conversation with two clarinetists from the AHS Band. Betty Barding was a member of the first Avon Band and graduated in 1954. Abbi Churchill plays clarinet in the Marching Black and Gold and Indoor Winds and will graduate this May.

What were you doing during the total solar eclipse on April 8? Avon High School Teacher Lauren Patton had an experience she'll never forget. She and her fiancé Alex Bradshaw tied the knot. Their ceremony got national attention.

Avon High School juniors and seniors had the opportunity to participate in a Career Fair last Wednesday, and it was a huge success. More than 70 local businesses and locations participated.

The Indiana Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers held their annual conference recently and two Avon High School Physics Teachers earned well-deserved recognition.

STEM Club Tutoring

STEM Club tutoring will resume after school on Wednesday, October 25 in L229. If you need any help in math or science , we hope to see you there! It will be every Wednesday through November 15.

Avon Bands are at it again. World Guard, Drumline, and Indoor Winds have each earned the title of 2024 State Champions. WOW! Congratulations, students, on your championship performances!

The Avon High School Roborioles sent three teams to the Indiana State championships. All three teams competed well. One team reached the semifinals, but that wasn't the biggest news. One student earned the highest honor available to individuals in Indiana robotics competitions.

Avon's Choirs celebrated the end of the season with remarkable finishes at the state competition. Attraction finished 1st runner up in univoice and Accents received 2nd runner up in mixed division.

Avon Choir Department took four choirs to the Fame Productions Show Choir America competition in Orlando. They competed with concert and show choirs from around the US and achieved incredible results.

An Avon High School student advanced to the Indiana South District Optimist Oratorical Finals based on her presentation on the topic of 'How to Change the World with Optimism'. She will compete at the District Finals in April.

The Avon High School Speech Team made history on March 9. For the first time in school history, Avon is the 3A Indiana Speech Team State Champion. In addition, three competitors won state championships in their individual events.

The Avon Board of School Trustees issued a Commendation honoring Avon High School senior Luke Rioux for his IHSAA Wrestling State Championship. Luke is the sixth wrestler in the program's history to bring home an individual state championship.

The Avon Orioles boys basketball team is on a roll. This weekend, they defeated both Terre Haute South (61-45) and Terre Haute North (49-41) to claim the school's fourth Sectional title. They advance to compete in Regionals on March 9. Go Orioles!

The Avon Marching Black & Gold are once again Indiana State Champions. They were crowned at the culmination of last weekend's ISSMA Marching Band State Finals competition at Lucas Oil Stadium. This is AMBG's 16th State Championship.

College Board admitted AHS to the 2023 AP School Honor Roll "for developing an AP program that creates a college-going culture and gives students opportunities to earn college credit and to maximize their college outcomes" and awarded AHS the 2023 AP Access Award "for ensuring AP coursework is equally available to students no matter their backgrounds."

We will have a short meeting on the first day back after break (Monday, October 23rd) in A112 after school to finalize Trunk-or-Treat. Our theme is “The Lorax.” We need decorations for the booth and candy/sticker/trinket donations from members. We need members to set up, dress up and pass out candy, and tear down. Students and staff at Avon High School received an unordinary interruption to their school day on Wednesday. A huge thunderstorm moved through the area at noon causing 25-year-old systems at AHS to become overwhelmed.
