2022 National Merit Semifinalists

Officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of 16,000 Semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program and three Avon High School students were on the list:

• Dana Peng,
• Jacob Branham, and
• Jackson McDavid.

These seniors are being recognized due to their success on the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, their participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received. Fewer than 1% of high school seniors are recognized among the highest-scoring entrants in each state. 

In the coming months, these students will learn if they are finalists and if they will receive a portion of the $28 million in scholarships that will be offered to students across the nation next spring.
