AHS Senior Wins Lilly Endowment Scholarship

AHS Senior Wins Lilly Endowment Scholarship

Avon High School senior Summer Adkins is one of three Hendricks County Class of '22 seniors who were awarded Lilly Endowment Scholarships.

"I'm so grateful to the Lilly Foundation for giving me the blessing of this scholarship," said Adkins. "I plan to show them my gratitude through working hard, serving my community, and passing on generosity. I am beyond thankful for this blessing."

The Hendricks County Community Foundation was clearly impressed by Adkins' resume. In the award notification letter, Vice President of Programs Eric Hessel wrote, "You have compiled an impressive academic record at Avon High School. The Committee was most impressed with your enthusiasm, attitude and commitment to education and community service."

Among the many ways she has demonstrated her enthusiasm, attitude, and commitment to education and community service, Adkins:

  • registered a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called ReFit for Hope with a friend (most recently gathering donations for Kentucky's tornado victims),
  • serves as President of the ASCAP ambassador program at AHS,
  • started an additional leadership club at AHS that focuses on education and leadership development, and
  • serves as dance captain for the Avon Accents show choir.

When asked about her plans, Adkins said, "I am now able to attend my dream school, Butler University, in the fall! I plan on double majoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation as well as Marketing with a minor in Communication."

Congratulations, Summer!
