AHS Surpasses Goal for Indiana FAFSA Filing

Avon High School has once again surpassed Indiana's FAFSA filing goal.

Chart showing increase Avon High School's FAFSA filing results.

For a high school senior, completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a big step that demonstrates that they have serious intentions of continuing their education after they graduate high school. Nearly 70% of the AHS class of '26 completed the FAFSA compared to 66.5% the previous year, an increase of 2.5%. Nearly 86% of AHS's 21st Century Scholars completed the FAFSA, up from 82.7% in 2025.

The Indiana Department of Education (DOE) set a goal that 60% of Hoosier seniors would complete the FAFSA and just under 61% of now-graduated seniors did so last year.

"We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 for exceeding the state goal," says AHS Principal Matt Shockley. "Completing the FAFSA is one of the most important steps students can take toward making college, career training, and other postsecondary opportunities more affordable and attainable. This achievement reflects our students' determination to invest in their futures and the commitment of our staff and families to support them along the way."

AHS is one of 319 Indiana public and private high schools to surpass the Indiana DOE's goal.
