AHS Teen Republicans Welcome Lt. Governor Crouch

AHS Teen Republicans Welcome Lt. Governor Crouch

The Avon High School Teen Republicans welcomed a special guest to their meeting on Wednesday, November 17. They were joined by Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch.

Denise Handlon, AHS Online Education Center Director and Club Sponsor said, "The Lt. Governor talked to students about what it means to be a Republican." Handlon added, "She spoke about the pride she feels due to recent legislation that passed requiring Civics be taught in Indiana middle schools and about the surplus that the State of Indiana will use in part to give refunds to taxpayers."

In addition to speaking to these issues, Lt. Governor Crouch listened. She took students' questions for approximately 20 minutes on topics ranging from executive privilege, her career, and the polarization that is currently taking place in our towns, counties, states, and nation.

This was an exciting opportunity for students to engage in thoughtful conversation with an important elected official, an experience they won't soon forget.
