AP US History Students Have Unforgettable Experience

Aaron Vogl's AP US History (APUSH) students shared a remarkable experience at Avon High School on Wednesday, April 24. During class, a student named Salem found out that her citizenship application had been approved.

Her teacher and friends made a life-changing event even more special as they celebrated with her.

Mr. Vogl and students, who only minutes earlier had discovered that Salem would be receiving notice during that class period, created impromptu plans to celebrate the announcement with her.

"Honestly, we didn’t know about it until 20 minutes prior," says Vogl. "One of my other APUSH Students acquired small pom-poms for each student in the class. When she received the text from her parents, we shouted her out! The Journalism staff arranged for the surprise photos. Salem thanked us, and she felt special."

Neither Salem, nor her teachers or classmates will forget the moment she learned of her US citizenship.

Welcome, Salem!
