Avon Business Owner Reflects on Junior Day of Caring

Avon Business Owner Reflects on Junior Day of Caring

Shortly after 900 Avon High School juniors descended upon the community for Junior Day of Caring on September 10, a local business owner took the time to write an email to Superintendent Dr. Scott Wyndham and AHS Principal Matt Shockley about the experience.

Here is the email, slightly edited for this format.

This morning, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of Avon students as part of Junior Day of Caring, and I was absolutely blown away by them. They were helpful, hardworking, respectful, and genuinely happy to lend a hand wherever they were needed. More impressive than the amount of work they completed, though, was the way they conducted themselves while they were here. They represented Avon High School exceptionally well. ... I know educators don't always get to hear about the moments when their students are out in the community doing things right, so I wanted to make sure you heard about this group. They should be incredibly proud of themselves and you should be proud of the young people representing your school.

A special thank you goes out to this business leader for taking the time to share this note. We're sure this sentiment is reflected many times over from the leaders of the 40 sites at which AHS juniors served. Like this leader, we are proud of our students.

Go Orioles!
