Avon Choirs Conclude Another Golden Season

Avon Choirs Conclude Another Golden Season

by Leah Trigg, AHS Assistant Choir Director

On March 11, the Avon Show Choirs competed at the Columbia City Cup Show Choir Invitational. Attraction placed first in the large school unisex division, and Accents placed first in the large school mixed division. The Accents competed again during the evening contest against all of the mixed groups, and won the Columbia City Cup by beating all of the show choirs in attendance. We were up against some great schools, and were honored to win this award!

On March 18, ISSMA hosted the top nine show choirs in each division at the state finals contest held at Pike High School. Attraction finished 3rd in a tough field of women's choirs, and the Accents had their best finish ever, placing 2nd among some of the best mixed show choirs in the state.

Show choir students, their parents, the back-up band, and the student crew worked extremely hard all season long. I am so impressed with their work ethic and desire to be competitive in this genre of music. The hours and hours spent after school learning the show and perfecting their craft certainly paid off—not just in the placement, but in the quality of their performances. Their shows were very entertaining and fun to watch. The trophies were just icing on the cake!

You can see their shows one more time at our final choir concert, Spring Sing, on May 12. Tickets will go on sale next month at avonchoirs.com.
