Avon High School Names Assistant Principal

At the November 14 meeting of the Avon Board of School Trustees, Kyle Nelson was welcomed onboard as Assistant Principal at Avon High School. He will assume his role on January 2. Mr. Nelson will fill the role vacated by Kellie Rodkey as she moves into her new role as Coordinator of the Avon Simon Youth Academy.

AHS Principal Matt Shockley shared the following information about Mr. Nelson in an email to AHS staff:

Kyle is one of our Deans of Students, serving in that role since July 2021. He served as a Spanish teacher at AHS from 2013-21. Kyle was a CT Leader, PD Cohort leader, and Student Government sponsor. During a year away from Avon, he went to Spain as an English teacher while also earning a Master’s Degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education. Kyle will serve as administrator in charge of the World Language, English, and Multilingual Learners departments, oversee student activities, and other duties managed by Kellie over the years.
