Calleigh Neal, Academic All Star

Avon High School senior Calleigh Neal earned a spot among the top 40 high school seniors in the state of Indiana. She was recently honored as an Indiana Academic All Star along with her high-achieving peers at a special ceremony hosted by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP).

Calleigh was chosen based on the strength of her academic transcript, exam scores, GPA, extracurricular activities, nonacademic activities, and commitment to leadership and service. 

Among her accolades, Calleigh is a:

• National Merit Finalist,
• AP Scholar with Distinction,
• US Senate Youth Program Delegate,
• Optimist International World Oratorical Champion (2024), and
• Distinguished Young Woman of Indiana.

She has served as the AHS Student Body President, DECA Vice-President of Career Development, and participant in the Avon Youth Civic Engagement Council. She participated in show chior and drama and played golf.

She plans to study Economics and Public Policy in college.

Calleigh chose to honor a special teacher, Malari Williams, at the ceremony. "To be her student is to be seen, cared for, and respected as a peer," Calleigh wrote. "There is a kindness inherent in her personhood, one that shows through in the grace and dedication with which she teaches. ... Her classroom is a space curated out of love, and is an inviting space to learn and grow."
