Celebrating Orioles - May 2026
The Avon Board of School Trustees commended five incredible individuals and groups of students at their regular session on May 11.
Indoor Winds
Indoor Winds finished their season as the IPA Scholastic World Class State Champions. This is their 9th state title, the 7th they've won in a row. They then competed in worlds and became WGI World Champions. This is their unbelievable 7th world title, their 5th consecutive.
World Drumline
World Drumline won an IPA Scholastic World Class State Championship. This is their 22nd state title and the 13th title they've won in a row. At WGI Scholastic World Class Finals, they earned a 9th place finish.
World Guard
World Guard completed the AHS sweep, winning the IHSCGA Scholastic World Class State Championship. This is the World Guard's 12th state title. They also finished on the podium as WGI Scholastic World Class Bronze Medalists.
Rithek Sankar
Rithek is the Valedictorian of the AHS class of '26, He achieved a GPA of 5.562. Along the way, he was honored as a 2023 Outstanding Underclassman for Band, a 2025 Rising Star of Indiana, and a 2024-25 Yale Young Global Scholar. He was a Japanese National Honor Society Member, the 2025-26 AHS Robotics Team Captain, the 2025-26 Computer Science Honor Society President, and a 2025-26 National Honor Society Member. He founded the AHS Competitive Coding Club in 2024. Rithek participated on the 2022-23 World Schools Debate Team and the 2023-24 Congress Debate Team. He plans to attend Georgia Institute of Technology to study Computer Science.
Tanmeet Kaur
At the state HOSA competition, Tanmeet Kaur placed 1st in Pharmacology, a Health Science event, demonstrating exceptional understanding of medications, their classifications, and uses. She also placed 1st in ATC Occupational Health & Safety (OSHA), showcasing knowledge of workplace health and safety standards. She qualified for the International Leadership Conference, which will be held in June.
