Does Your Organization Need a Hand?

Does Your Organization Need a Hand?

by Lauren Tauer

Each September Avon High School sends junior students out into the community for Junior Day of Caring, a day of service and giving back through volunteer work. It's a very meaningful day for the students and the community members who participate with us.

The students are usually on-site helping from about 9:30 am to 12:30pm one Thursday in early September. Volunteer work can range quite a bit and has changed year to year. In recent years, we have had students:

  • reading in elementary schools,
  • cleaning cages at animal shelters,
  • painting,
  • organizing,
  • mulching,
  • pulling weeds,
  • picking up trash,
  • assembling items,
  • you name it.

We are reaching out to find interested organizations/businesses in our community that would like to give a group of students a place to do some volunteer work. If you would like to consider this opportunity of hosting our juniors during their service work, please fill out the following survey so we can best fit your needs. Feel free to pass this along to others who may also be interested.
