JAG Students Sweep CDC Competition

Elena Stidham, AHS JAG Specialist

Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) is a "state-based, national non-profit organization dedicated to helping high school students of promise who have experienced challenging or traumatic life experiences achieve success through graduation."

Our JAG students just returned from the Career Development Conference, a competition where Avon High School JAG students compete with other JAG programs in the region, testing them on various skills that would be essential for adulthood.

Avon swept the competition!

The winners are as follows:

  • Neva Verbik — Outstanding Senior, 1st Place
  • Cara Clark — Career Presentation, 1st Place
  • Bindu Kiadii — Writing Skills, 1st Place
  • Abdourahmane Aidara and DaVida Delva — Entrepreneurship, 1st Place
  • Kanyinsola "Esther" Bankole-Brown — Employability Skills, 1st Place
  • Lindsey Romero — Critical Thinking, 3rd Place

Avon JAG also won 1st place for our chapter social media and our chapter commercial. Abe Barrington led these efforts!

Please congratulate these students and their extraordinary successes! All 1st-place winners will be advancing to State Finals in March, so we wish them the best of luck as well. I'm proud of these kiddos, and you should be too!
