Junior Wins District Oratorical Contest

Avon High School junior Jay Desai won the Indiana South District Optimist Oratorical Contest. His speech, entitled The Moment I Realized I Belonged—My Definition of Community, earned Jay a first-place finish, a generous cash prize, and entrance into the Optimist International Regional and World Championships in St. Louis this July.

The second-place finisher was also an AHS student. Aliyah Olayinka brought home second place and a cash prize.
