Meet the Class of '26 Valedictorian and Salutatorian
In just a few weeks, approximately 850 students will walk across the stage, shake Principal Matt Shockley's hand, and receive an Avon High School diploma from Superintendent Dr. Scott Wyndham. All of them have unique stories. They all worked to arrive at graduation. They are all deserving of our admiration.
Two students stand out as representatives of their class: Valedictorian Rithek Shankar Sudhakar Sankar and Salutatorian Nancy Orogun. Both students have been commended by the Avon Board of School Trustees and we are pleased to highlight a few of their remarkable success and achievements.
Rithek Sankar
Rithek achieved a GPA of 5.562. Along the way, he was honored as a 2023 Outstanding Underclassman for Band, a 2025 Rising Star of Indiana, and a 2024-25 Yale Young Global Scholar. He was a Japanese National Honor Society Member, the 2025-26 AHS Robotics Team Captain, the 2025-26 Computer Science Honor Society President, and a 2025-26 National Honor Society Member. He founded the AHS Competitive Coding Club in 2024. Rithek participated on the 2022-23 World Schools Debate Team and the 2023-24 Congress Debate Team. He plans to attend Georgia Institute of Technology to study Computer Science.
Nancy Orogun
Nancy earned a 5.533 GPA. Nancy was selected to be a 2026 Indiana Association of School Principals Regional Academic All Star and a 2025-26 Nationally Commended Scholar. She earned designation as a 2025 Rising Star of Indiana, a 2025 Academic All American, a 2024 AP Scholar, a 2025 AP Scholar with Distinction, and the 2025 Avon Distinguished Young Woman Champion. Nancy is a DECA State Qualifier, a 2024 Original Oratory State Champion, and a member of the 2022-23 State Champion Avon Symphony Orchestra. She served as the President of the National Honor Society and the Avon Youth Civic Engagement Council. She was Co-Captain of the 2025-26 AHS State Champion Speech & Debate Team, an Indiana Schools Speech and Debate Individual State Champion, and a 2026 World Schools Debate State runner up. She will choose between Harvard, Columbia, or the University of Chicago and will major in Biochemistry.
