Orioles Drink Milk

Orioles Drink Milk

With help from the Avon High School drum corps, student government representatives, cheerleaders, Big O the Oriole mascot, the Avon Food Services team, and several school and district administrators, representatives from the American Dairy Association Indiana and the Indianapolis Colts launched National School Breakfast Week with a celebration at AHS on Monday, May 4.

As students entered school, members of student government and the AHS varsity cheer squad greeted them and directed them to the Commons and what is referred to as the Nest, the AHS cafeteria.

If students weren't greeted and guided, they certainly would have been drawn to the sound of the drum cadences being played by members of the drum corps.

Each student who visited the Nest between 8:05 and 8:20 am got free sample smoothies, fruit, milk, and your choice of a variety of General Mills breakfast items. They even had a chance to pose for a selfie with Colts cheerleaders and Blue, the Colts' mascot.

The goal of the event was to promote awareness of the importance dairy for a healthy diet and to promote the importance of a healthy breakfast for students in Avon, Indiana, and across the nation.
