Phase 1 of AHS Project Receives Green Light

Phase 1 of AHS Project Receives Green Light

Phase 1 of the project will begin in September

The Avon Board of School Trustees greenlit the first phase of the AHS Renovation and Expansion project at the August 8 meeting.

Architects have been hard at work for months. Along the way, they have gathered huge amounts of feedback from students, staff, and the community. The insight has been valuable in guiding the process to the point at which it is time to proceed. The first phase of the project, which will largely be confined to the east side of the building, will begin in September.

Despite lengthy lead times for ordering steel, labor conditions, and inflation, architects are confident this project phase will be complete in time for the start of the 2023-24 school year.

The Phase 1 addition will house Avon's OASIS program on the first floor. This self-contained special education program provides opportunities for students who benefit from smaller class sizes and more focused attention from educators. The second floor of the addition will house four Art and Science labs as well as collaboration space for educators.

To learn more about the entire project, which will be completed with no increase to taxpayers and with no Referendum funds, visit the project webpage using the link below.
