Rotary Announces Speech Contest Winners

The Avon Rotary held its annual Speech Contest on January 20.
The results are as follows: 1st place - Alisha Beg; 2nd place - Andrew Onochie; 3rd place - Santiago Jimenez Butcher. They delivered five- to seven-minute memorized speeches on topics of international importance to Rotary and the world: Hidden Need in Education, Protection of Mothers & Children, and Peace that Lasts. They were awarded cash prizes.
Alisha and Santiago will go on to compete at the District level on February 7 at Anderson University.
All three of these competitors are award-winning members of the Avon High School Speech & Debate Team.
