Saluting Those Who Serve

The Kiwanis Club of Avon hosted a Salute the Recruits dinner and recognition event at the American Legion Post #145 in Avon earlier this week. They honored four members of the AHS class of '24 who have chosen military service as their next step after graduation. 

We are proud of these students — and all of their classmates who will serve — for their desire to serve our nation.

• Regina Espinoza-Marcos, Navy
• Tyler Yenerich, National Guard
• Mya Barlow, National Guard

These students are pictured alongside Indiana Representative Greg Steuerwald, who was present to speak to those in attendance.

The Kiwanis Club shared the following message in the event program:

We honor our high school graduates who are embarking on a noble journey with the armed forces. Your decision to serve is a testament to your bravery, patriotism, and dedication to our nation's ideals. Tonight, we gather not only to celebrate this significant milestone, but also to express our collective pride and support for your future endeavors. ... To our graduates, as you prepare to don the uniform, know that your courage inspires us all. We stand with you, proud and grateful for your commitment to protecting our home and upholding our freedoms.
