Students Share the Stage with Dr. Wyndham

Five students joined Avon Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Wyndham in giving his annual presentation to the Greater Avon Chamber of Commerce.

Rather than state all the stats and figures himself, Dr. Wyndham wanted community leaders to hear from students. Thanks to the recommendations of Avon High School Principal Matt Shockley and Avon Academy Coordinator Kellie Rodkey, five students were present to speak about various aspects of their experiences in Avon Schools.

  • Jay Desai spoke about his academics and participation in Speech & Debate.
  • Ian Smith spoke about his experience on the Robotics team.
  • Alaysia Jefferson talked about her internship and her upcoming (early) graduation.
  • Marissa Kenworthy shared leadership lessons she's learning as a Drum Major in the Avon Marching Black & Gold.
  • Rylee Crain talked about his experience as a student-athlete and as an intern in the Work Study program.

These students are not only excellent representatives of the student body in Avon Schools, walking, talking examples of Avon's mission: ALL belong, learn, and grow.

They helped Dr. Wyndham convey to the community how our strong schools strengthen our community and how, in turn, our strong community strengthens our schools.
