United for Iran Fundraiser
"Have you been seeing TikToks of women cutting their hair or protesting in the street of Iran? They are protesting the death of Mahsa Amini, a woman who died in police custody. This has led to one of the largest protests in the country's history since the revolution in 1979. The Organization, United for Iran, is a growing global network of issue experts, coders, developers, and activists to create an Iran where civil liberties are respected. Their technologies empower Iranians to stay informed, voice their beliefs, stand up for their values and organize.
The Ethnic Studies classes are currently fundraising for the organization United for Iran, and we want to invite YOU to participate, even if you're not in the class. Mrs. Noyes is opening this opportunity up for all staff and students to donate to this organization. We will be asking for people to donate to United for Iran. Send a screenshot of your Transaction ID to Mrs. Noyes on Schoology for her to keep track of how much has been donated to the organization. AND, she's putting her own hair on the line in solidarity of Iranian women.
If staff and students are able to raise $100, she'll get a trim. If staff and students are able to raise $1,000, she'll cut her hair shoulder length. If staff and students are able to raise $2,000, she will shave her head!
In Ethnic Studies, we believe that we CAN make a difference, and it's important to get involved in issues in the community and abroad. Together, we can make change in people's lives!
This drive will go until October 28th, so be sure to send Mrs. Noyes screenshots on Schoology to verify your donation. "
