Broadcasting Bootcamp

Avon TV's first broadcasting boot camp kicked off during summer 2022! This summer we have another amazing group of students ready to mentor our campers. Students will learn behind-the-scenes and on-camera roles for sports broadcasting, news reporting, music video, short film, animation and more.

Registration for 2025 is here! Cost: $200 check to Avon High School memo: Broadcasting due by May 1st. Cost includes 2 days of camp, pizza party, and t-shirt. Save the dates: Monday, June 23rd, 2025 and Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 8am-3pm. On 6/24/24 at 2pm there will be a celebration and showcase of your students work - families are encouraged to attend!

AVON TV SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
for Summer Broadcasting Bootcamp 

Recipient Qualifications:
-Current 6th, 7th, 8th grade student in Avon Community Schools during the 24-25 school year
  (Incoming 7th, 8th, freshmen for '25-26)
-Passionate about exploring the field of broadcasting/animation
-Would not be able to attend bootcamp otherwise (finances)

A student, parent, or teacher can apply on behalf of the student. Be sure to include your name (if applying on behalf of a student) and the student’s name and grade level.

Instructions:
Please write 1-2 paragraphs explaining why the student deserves this scholarship and would like to attend this summer camp. Applications are due no later than April 1 to latauer@avon-schools.org 
Winner(s) of the Avon TV Scholarship are guaranteed a spot in the camp for free (includes camp shirt, 3 days of camp, and pizza party). If you are a winner, you will be notified by April 11th

Avon High School students can register for Broadcast courses in pursuit of their academic requirements at Avon High School. Talk to your Guidance Counselor if you need more information. These are CTE courses. You can get free, dual college credits!

Principles of Broadcasting
Introduction to Communications
2 semester course

Learn the basics of radio, television, and media. Explore professional software and equipment through hands-on learning. Be part of the live Oriole Report announcements.

 

Broadcasting Capstone
Personalized for individual students to meet the needs of their future goals.

Audio/Video Production Essentials Radio/TV1
(VU 102, 120 dual credit)
2 semester course

Continue to develop your radio and television skills through hands-on learning. Dive deeper into audio production through podcasts, and begin to engage in community video projects. 
 

Mass Media Production
Radio/TV2
(VU 140, 206 dual credit)
2 semester course

Focus on media goals and create content to use for your future through a variety of projects and hands-on learning. Lead the production for the Oriole Report through rundown and show creation.
